How To Do a Backbend in Yoga

Backbends are energizing, uplifting, and stimulating. After a backbend, you’ll notice an energy shift, almost like someone opened a window. In a way, that’s just what you’ve done.

We spend so much time in hunched, forward positions. When you arch the back you simultaneously open the chest, releasing muscles around the ribs and giving the lungs and diaphragm room to expand and take in more oxygen.
